Walkways and roof ladders can also be fitted with guardrails. If the walkway is located closer to the ridge than 1 m, a guardrail is required on both sides; if the distance is longer, a guardrail in the direction of the pitch is sufficient. On steep roof ladders with a slope of more than 30 degrees and lengths of more than 4 metres, you must be anchored even if a guardrail is present.
