Snow stopper

Snow stopper

The function of the snow stopper is to limit snow and ice from sliding off of sloping roofs. It holds the snow and ice in place on the roof which relieves the snow fence and distributes the load of the snow over the entire roof. Appearance varies depending on the roof for which it is customised.

Snow stoppers are not intended or approved for the anchoring of personal fall protection. Snow stoppers do not replace snow fences at the roof foot or roof break.

Snow stopper requirements

There are no Swedish or European standards for snow stoppers. The Austrian Ö-norm is used in the meantime in order to indicate snow-stopping capacity. Tubes and rakes are rated for a load of 300 kg/m; the CWL grapple for tiled roofs are rated for 100 kg in the direction of the roof pitch.

Remember that

Snow stoppers do not serve as personal fall protections equipment.
